Zoning Bylaw Review Committee · Meeting of June 11, 2026
Dracut zoning panel backs MBTA housing zone to achieve state compliance. The Zoning Bylaw Review Committee unanimously recommended a Modified Tennis Plaza and Cascades zone to the Board of Selectmen on June 11, with all seven present members voting in favor. The state-mandated zone must cover 50 acres and accommodate 1,233 units.
The committee chose condominium-heavy parcels specifically because the economics of buyout would discourage development, protecting the town from significant buildout. Two prior town votes rejected MBTA compliance proposals, but a lawsuit from the Massachusetts Attorney General forced reconsideration.
