DRACUT — Finance Committee reviews preliminary FY27 budget with $2.5M in cuts already imposed. Town Manager Cori Stott and Finance Director Ms. Hodges detailed pressures from $400,000 in unpaid solid waste invoices, a 14.44 percent increase in insurance and benefits, and loss of a state-funded landfill closure grant withdrawn this week.
The Dracut Public Schools requested $2.6 million and Greater Lowell Technical High School $113,000. Ms. Hodges stated no override is proposed pending clearer budget projections and indicated additional difficult cuts remain on the town side, though she declined specificity on schools' budget flexibility.
