DRACUT — Finance Committee defers February and March minutes, reviews FY2027 budget. The five-member committee examined the May 1 budget draft, noting inconsistent categorization and misaligned narratives, and unanimously approved adjournment after flagging the town's $6.2 million shortfall as primarily a revenue problem rather than a spending issue. Members called for the school and municipal budgets to be presented as an integrated whole and questioned revenue-raising measures beyond tax increases.
Chair Cori Stott reported inviting department heads to discuss financial planning and tax-dollar allocation with the committee.
