Finance Committee approves minutes, requests School Committee salary clarification
Finance Committee · Meeting of January 22, 2026
DRACUT — Finance Committee unanimously approves minutes and pursues salary discrepancies. The committee requested written explanation from the School Committee on a $4 million variance between budgeted and actual FY2025 education salary spending after Finance Director noted actuals represented only 86 percent of budget projections. In a second unanimous motion, the committee requested a comprehensive ARPA reconciliation report showing all federal relief funds received, disbursed, remaining balances, and planned disbursements through the December 31, 2026 deadline.
The town expects to present a proposed FY2027 budget to selectmen and Finance Committee by end of March, following a September budget planning launch that includes three service-level scenarios. A subcommittee tasked with resolving conflicts between the 1980 Town Bylaws and Town Charter completed its work and won unanimous approval to submit findings to the Town Manager for bylaw review.
