Committee votes to remove cost projections from MBTA information session materials

Zoning Bylaw Review Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026

DRACUT — Zoning Bylaw Review Committee votes to omit cost-impact analysis from MBTA housing information session. Chair Josh Taylor and the committee, meeting February 12, voted seven to one on a motion by John Svrcek to remove questions and answers on anticipated town costs tied to new housing units, citing disagreement over consultant Mr. Plummer's methodology on student enrollment and revenue.

The committee plans to present all eight potential zoning maps to the public with the two preferred zones highlighted separately, keeping focus on location and scale rather than fiscal estimates. The committee moved its March meeting forward to March 5 to meet the June town meeting warrant deadline and avoid extended litigation costs.
