DRACUT — The Town Charter Review Committee approved prior meeting minutes unanimously and advanced charter review toward finalization within two meetings. The committee of five members reviewed Articles 4, 5, and 6, deciding to set aside DPW and Accountant sections from Article 5. Members discussed the charter's relationship to Massachusetts General Law, noting that state law ranks above charter language and therefore the document need not duplicate MGL provisions.
Karen Merrill was directed to reformat the charter to match the previous version's structure. The committee plans to finalize the document and deliver it to the Select Board for public hearing scheduling within the next two meetings.
