Charter Review Committee refines recall procedures in Article 7.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of May 5, 2026
Dracut Charter Review Committee refines recall procedures for elected officials. The committee approved structural changes to Article 7, General Provisions, Section 13, splitting Section 13(b) into two parts and adding a new Section 13(c), with former subsections renumbered accordingly. Members reviewed a comparison of recall practices in other towns and discussed the mechanics of recall elections if an official resigns before or after the election date is set.
Phil Thibault will consult with Anthony on whether such resignations trigger state law vacancy procedures or an automatic election. The committee deferred Article 8 and reviewed prior recommendations ahead of a final report to the Board of Selectmen.
