Dracut Board of Health ordered the condemnation of a Bridge Street garage after police discovered unsafe living conditions. Health Director Carolina Bencosme reported discovering a person living without utilities or facilities in the unsecured property, which had been abandoned since 2022 with utilities shut off for two years and plumbing stolen. An initial "Order to Secure" went unanswered; Bencosme issued an "Emergency Order of Condemnation and Order to Vacate," and the occupant vacated.
The case was referred to the State Attorney General's office for receivership consideration. The Board also approved updated mission statements and received a mortality profile identifying heart disease, cancer, and accidents as leading causes of death in Dracut.
