Dracut Board of Health unanimously approves overhauled food permit fee schedule set for June 1 rollout. Interim Health Director Joanne Belanger benchmarked rates against eight surrounding communities and introduced tiered fees based on establishment size and food risk, with the highest permit fee of $300 reserved for grocery stores. The board also added a Food Establishment Plan Review fee, a $100 non-compliance reinspection charge, and late fees doubling the original permit cost for expired renewals.
Ms. Belanger reported the Relavent inspectional software contract is complete and equipment has been delivered; training will occur in June or July, with regional inspector Arleny Almonte Soto and the incoming full-time Director both versed in the system.
