Board approves animal control officer, senior donations; scrutinizes selectman's MBTA video

DRACUT — Board of Selectmen approves animal control officer, accepts $9,810 in senior donations. The board voted unanimously to designate Colleen Morse as the 2026 Municipal Animal Control Officer and accepted a $9,500 grant from the Greater Lowell Senior Citizen Trust and $310 from Hannaford's for Council on Aging programs. Town Manager Kate Hodges reported $400,000 in unpaid trash fees outstanding with a March 15 deadline; Hodges warned the town cannot avoid an override past 2028 and noted $2.4 million in cuts already made on the town side.
The board also addressed Selectman Don Plummer's MBTA zoning video aired on Dracut Access Television, with ZBRC Vice Chair Sarah Powling stating it was misleading and counterproductive; Plummer apologized and agreed to remove the video.
